What were you like as a teen?

I was awkward with strangers and silly with friends. Prone to accidents and crushes, both of the painful sort. 

What were your favorite books as a kid?

The Wrinkle in Time quartet, the Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper, the Harper Hall books by Anne McCaffery, all the Nancy Drew books, and a series called the Danny Dunn Mysteries, sort of like a sci-fi Hardy Boys. 

If you had one wish what would you wish for?

Teleportation superpowers. I love to travel but hate to fly.

What musicians have influenced your writing?

Kelly Clarkson and Tori Amos have both inspired me. But I listen to classical music or movie scores when I write. Lyrics mess with my head.

What are you looking forward to about YALLFest?

Chatting with readers and other authors… or anyone other than my dogs! (I don’t get out much.) 

What is your favorite kind of pie?

Blueberry (with ice cream)
