Paula Chase

The author of eleven novels and co-founder of the award-winning blog, The Brown Bookshelf, Paula Chase is a longtime advocate for diversifying children’s literature featuring Black characters. Chase was the 2021 recipient of the Assembly on Literature for Adolescents (ALAN) Konigsberg Award for her advocacy.
In ‘07 Chase’s Del Rio Bay series helped launch Kensington Books Dafina YA imprint. Her critically acclaimed middle grade debut, So Done, went on to become a Kirkus Reviews Best Book, Chicago Library Best of the Best Book, and a Louisiana Young Readers Choice nominee. So Done, its companions and Chase’s YA novels are Junior Library Guild Gold Selections blazing the trail for books that tackle tough topics.
